Two names built this whisky: Richard Paterson OBE and Ian MacMillan — between them, several decades of some of Scotland's most respected blending work. Wolfcraig is their joint venture, launched in 2020 with a clear intention: find rare, aged stocks that most brands can't access, reject everything that doesn't meet the standard, and produce small batches that can never be replicated. Only 4,401 bottles of this expression exist worldwide.

The 14 Year Old begins in freshly emptied bourbon casks, then spends a further three years finishing across three distinct sherry types — Amontillado, Pedro Ximénez, and Moscatel — all from Bodega San Andrés in Spain. Each cask brings its own voice: Amontillado adds structure, roasted nuts, and dried fruit depth; Moscatel brings orange marmalade and lifted sweetness; PX delivers the dark, fig-driven richness that grounds the whole composition. It's a 50/50 malt-to-grain blend, which is unusually generous and the reason it carries the weight of a single malt rather than a conventional blended Scotch.

The nose is warm and layered — sunkissed raisins, ripe peaches, tangerines, creamy caramel, and vanilla drifting quietly together. The palate follows through with figs, sweet sultanas, demerara sugar, cocoa, and molasses, with spiced chutney and a hint of peel marmalade extending the mid-palate. The finish is long, spiced, and warmly indulgent.

46.1% ABV. Non-chill filtered. Natural colour. A bottle that makes a quiet but very convincing case for what master blending actually is.
