A rare glimpse into the artistry of Plantation’s single cask program, this 2009 Australian rum was distilled at Beenleigh Distillery in Queensland and matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks under the fierce Australian climate. It was then shipped to France, where it spent an additional 2 years in Ferrand cognac casks, followed by a final year of finishing in a unique wine cask that lends a striking individuality to the spirit.

The result is a rum layered with tropical fruit, charred oak, and rich spice. The nose reveals overripe banana, grilled pineapple, and dried apricot with hints of vanilla and leather. The palate is deep and textured, carrying notes of molasses, toasted coconut, and dark chocolate, lifted by a subtle vinous edge from the finishing cask. A long, warming finish lingers with oak, pepper, and dried fruit.

Bottled at cask strength and produced in limited quantity, this release is both a showcase of Australian rum terroir and a celebration of Plantation’s expertise in double-ageing.

Plantation

Plantation Rum unites tropical richness with refined French finishing for spirits of true character.

Founded by Alexandre Gabriel, Plantation Rum has become a global standard-bearer for craftsmanship and innovation in rum. Known for its signature double-ageing process, Plantation matures its rums first in the tropics to capture intensity, then refines them in French oak casks at Château de Bonbonnet in Cognac. This unique approach highlights both terroir and technique, producing spirits that are rich, complex, and unmistakably distinctive. With releases ranging from classic blends to rare single casks, Plantation showcases the diversity of rum traditions while always delivering exceptional quality.
