Plantation Australia 2009 Single Cask
A rare glimpse into the artistry of Plantation’s single cask program, this 2009 Australian rum was distilled at Beenleigh Distillery in Queensland and matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks under the fierce Australian climate. It was then shipped to France, where it spent an additional 2 years in Ferrand cognac casks, followed by a final year of finishing in a unique wine cask that lends a striking individuality to the spirit.
The result is a rum layered with tropical fruit, charred oak, and rich spice. The nose reveals overripe banana, grilled pineapple, and dried apricot with hints of vanilla and leather. The palate is deep and textured, carrying notes of molasses, toasted coconut, and dark chocolate, lifted by a subtle vinous edge from the finishing cask. A long, warming finish lingers with oak, pepper, and dried fruit.
Bottled at cask strength and produced in limited quantity, this release is both a showcase of Australian rum terroir and a celebration of Plantation’s expertise in double-ageing.
