Bladnoch is Scotland's southernmost distillery, sitting in Galloway in the Lowlands — a region that tends toward lightness, florality, and a kind of unshowy elegance. Vinaya is its permanent NAS expression, and it wears its name honestly: the word is Sanskrit for respect and gratitude, a nod to the distillery's original founder. It's a fitting title for a whisky that feels considered and without ego.

Matured in first-fill bourbon and first-fill sherry casks — a combination that gives it both lift and depth — and bottled at 46.7% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour. On the nose it's floral and bright: heather, fresh-cut grass, green apple, honeysuckle, with a quiet sweetness underneath that binds everything together. The palate is rounder than you expect — honeycomb, citrus peel, tart apple, milk chocolate, vanilla — with a gentle peppery oak note that arrives late and grounds the whole thing. The finish is warm, lightly spiced, and unhurried.

It won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2025. Not a whisky that announces itself, but one that earns its place quietly — and keeps you coming back.
