Altered Carbon is the newest limited-edition from Waiheke Whisky – our most peaty
expression yet. Distilled on our island home off Auckland's coast, it's crafted using
New Zealand-grown barley and distinctive New Zealand peat, unlocking the essence of
ancient carbon preserved through millennia in our peat bogs. Altered Carbon evokes transformation and evolution – much like how the carbon-rich peat smoke infuses the spirit, reshaping bright New Zealand malt into something deeper and more profound. It also hints to our journey as our expanded distillery has matured to produce this world-class spirit. This gentle yet assertive peat brings a maritime smokiness: think beach bonfires carried on coastal winds, subtle earthy undertones, and a whisper of medicinal intrigue, all balanced by the sweet, malty core of homegrown barley.
